Green Revolution in Eastern States; 2010/11 – 2013/14

In Gangetic belt of Hooghly & Burdwan districts of West Bengal, India; large number of small and marginal farmers grow rice in traditional way, by using traditional and local varieties. Productivity and awareness on new technology was low.

The objective was to train the rice growers in West Bengal on:

  • Cultivation of hybrid rice to enhance productivity
  • Responsible use of Pesticides in rice
  • Integration of IPM principles in rice cultivation
  • Finally Impart training on all aspects of rice cultivation. Scope was from seed to seed.
